one click : two lessons for life!

This morning,
I saw Isha, our cat, unusually excited as she gazed out of the window. A little bird was trapped between the closed window and the insect net. It fluttered frantically, trying to find its way out, while Isha watched every movement, eagerly hoping to catch it.

The other window was wide open.
Its freedom was just a few inches away, yet the little bird  continued to flutter within the confined space, searching desperately for an escape.
And Isha? She was equally caught up in her own world of excitement and anticipation, convinced that she could catch the bird. Little did she know that the bird was beyond her reach.
As I stood there watching them, I found myself reflecting on two lessons from this scene.
Lesson 1: Sometimes, the freedom we seek is already within our reach. Yet,  we find ourselves trapped in our own imaginations, fears, assumptions and expectations? We struggle, worry and search for a way out, convinced that we have no choice.
The solution is already there. An opportunity we have overlooked. A different perspective we have not considered. A door we have not noticed because we are too busy looking at the closed one.
We may simply need to pause, look around and recognise the open window.
Perhaps  to see differently.
Lesson 2: Not everything we desire is within our reach.
Isha was completely absorbed in the possibility of catching the bird.
How much like us!
We sometimes become so attached to an outcome that we forget to ask ourselves whether it is truly within our capacity, whether it is meant for us, or whether we are simply chasing something because we want it so badly.
There is nothing wrong with ambition or desire. They give us direction and motivate us to grow. But wisdom lies in recognising the difference between what we can work towards and what we must learn to let go of.
Not every disappointment deserves our continued energy.
Sometimes, acceptance is the wiser choice.

As I watched the little bird continue to flutter, I stood near the window and quietly prayed that it would find the open window and fly to freedom.
And then,  it happened!
The bird  flew away happily into freedom.
Isha looked at me disappointed.
I couldn't help but reflect on the contrast as  I was left with two lessons from an ordinary morning at home.

Look for the open window when life makes you feel trapped. And learn to walk away gracefully when what you desire is not meant to be yours.

Recognise the possibilities that are already available to you, and have the wisdom to let go of what is beyond your reach.
